CSPL Internet Computer Policy

  1. Users must be twelve (12) years of age or older to use the Internet unless accompanied by an adult.

  2. Users under eighteen (18) years of age must have written parental permission in the form of a signed Internet Permission Form, which parents must sign at the library.

  3. Users must register at the front desk for each 30 minute block of time (2 blocks maximum, per day)

  4. Only two people at a computer at a time.

  5. Misuse of the computer of Internet access will result in the loss of your computer privileges.

  6. The Cambridge Springs Public Library reserves the right to use filtering software to prohibit access to websites that are known to contain information that is "harmful to minors." In compliance with Criminal Code, 18 PA C. 5903, no Library computer may be used to view a web site that is depicting or discussing information that is "harmful to minors."

  7. The Internet and its available resources contain a wide variety of material and opinions from varied points of view. In offering Internet access, library staff cannot control access points which often change rapidly and unpredictably. Users are hereby notified that they are responsible for the access points they reach. Parents of minor children must assume responsibility for their children’s use of the Internet through the library connection. The Cambridge Springs Public Library assumes no responsibility for damages, direct or indirect, arising from use of its World Wide Web server or from its connections to other Internet Services.

  8. Free wireless Internet access for patrons who bring their own devices with wireless cards is offered. Cambridge Springs Public Library's free wireless network is not a secure network. We recommend that patrons do not use this network for the transfer of sensitive data, such as credit card numbers or bank account numbers, even while using the encryption built into web browsers. This data would be vulnerable during transit on the network. CSPL accepts no liability for any loss of privacy or data that patrons may experience.
