Children, aged 12 and under, are invited to read to a furry friend the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, 4-5pm.
Reading to dogs is a great way for encouraging a child to practice reading in a non-judgmental environment, builds self-esteem and associates reading with a pleasant experience.
Paws Hand Delivered, a local, nationally registered and approved therapy dog/handler group will provide dogs to the library for kids to read to. Children will have one-on-one sessions, the handler will be present.
There is no charge for this program, however parents must sign a permission form available at the library and children must sign up for a time slot.
